Kendal travelled to bottom of the league Formby this weekend looking to get back to winning ways.
Working hard and playing well from the start, Kendal pushed the home side back into their defensive third of the pitch. Time after time the away side created scoring opportunities, but failed to find the net. Defending deep, Formby packed their defence and frustrated the dominant Greens who continually crashed into the home side’s D like a rising tide. Finally, Ewan Galloway’s snap-shot took a deflection from a desperate defender and rolled over the line to give Kendal the lead. Try as they might though, The Greens could not earn another goal before the half time whistle.
Half time- Formby 0 – 1 Kendal.
The second half continued in the same way. Kendal had the lions share of possession, but despite repeated efforts to find the net, the packed Formby defence endured. As the half wore on the visitors were becoming more and more desperate to put the game to bed and began trying to force the game. Taking advantage of the increasingly stretched Kendal lines, the home side started to find space to break and soon found the net themselves. The match then began to spiral out of Kendal’s control as their never ending efforts to score only resulted in Formby repeatedly capitalising on the available space to break and score goal after goal.
Kendal hope to return to form when they host Rochdale this coming weekend in an important battle for league position.
Final score- Formby Men’s 2s 5 – 1 Kendal Men’s 1s.
