Kendal 1s v Brooklands Poynton: 2-0

BROOKLANDS Poynton moved within one point of the summit of the league with a home victory over Kendal Ladies.

Kendal, who secured their first home win of the season in a 4-1 victory over Doncaster last weekend, showed their dogged determination throughout but ultimately succumbed to the experienced George Road team.

The away side’s defence managed to fend off the opposition for much of the opening periods but were caught short at the back in a 29th minute counter-attack.

Amy Gavin delivered a weighted pass down the line before Charlotte Jackson found Cat Savage waiting in the circle who duly slotted past the keeper.

Brooklands’ second goal came from Lindsay Rachubka in the 46th minute after a sweeping team move.

Kendal showed resilience in the remaining minutes but couldn’t break down the solid Brooklands defence, who picked up their fourth clean sheet.
