Kendal only had 11 players and had been blighted by illness in the build up to their match at Bolton on Saturday. After a tense start they played their way into the game and started to dominate. Three goals followed in quick succession. The first was created by Nicola Conway who threaded a pass to the far post for Sally Scott to put away. Conway went on to score a couple of goals that included a deflection and a clever reverse stick pass into the net.
After half time Bolton rallied and brought it back to 3-1, scoring from a goal-mouth scramble at a short corner. Some fantastic saves from Fiona Battersby and fine tackles from Nicola Martindale and Emma Woodburn kept Kendal ahead. Eventually they took control again. Conway completed her hatrick with a powerful short corner strike then Vicky Jones ran the length of the pitch to get on the end of a Carole Quill pass and drill it through the keepers legs.
Despite this solid 5-1 win Kendal will not be complacent as they take on Timperley at home next Saturday. Pass back is 12.30pm at Kirkbie Kendal School.
