Kendal Ladies remain top of the North Hockey League this week but it was a tough game at Timperley who were very well organised in defence. They marked tightly and prevented some of Kendal’s free movement of last week.
However the girls maintained their positive approach and went a goal up through Nicola Conway’s flick over the keeper. After a period of pressure with a penalty flick appeal not given, Kendal finally scored again with a neat finish from Laura Morris at a short corner.
In the second half Timperley pressed harder and they got one goal back. It was time for Kendal to dig deep and some stubborn tackling from Nicola Martindale (man of the match) and Abby Bland as well as some excellent saves from goalkeeper Fiona Battersby kept them out. The game finished 2-1, a result Kendal were pleased with having drawn twice against this side last year. They will look to maintain this winning streak next Saturday against Bolton at home. Pass back is 12.30pm at Kirkbie Kendal.
