It was mission accomplished for Kendal Ladies 1st hockey team on Saturday as they produced a resounding 10-0 win over Cumbrian rivals Wigton. Unlike last week, Kendal started the game at a quick pace and were 3-0 up by half time, all from set pieces. The best of them a pin-point drag flick from Vicky Jones.
In the second half the floodgates opened as Kendal’s passing became more free-flowing and Wigton began to tire. The remaining goals were scored by Vicky Jones (2), Nicola Conway and Sally Scott who was excellent on the right wing and won man of the match. Kendal were awarded a penalty flick that was neatly put away by Sophie Garne. Rebecca Delbridge and Nicola Martindale rounded off the total in style.
Kendal will hope to repeat this dominant performance in the crunch home game against Whitley Bay next week.
