At the fortress for the second week running Kendal ladies 1s faced second in the league Chester and the greens were ready to right the wrongs of last week’s unfortunate 2-0 loss against Bowdon seconds.
After a slow start Kendal found themselves a goal down after the first two minutes due to a clean strike from the Chester attack at a penalty corner. The mighty greens took heed and got themselves sorted so as the half-time whistle blew, Kendal had much of the possession and were pressing into the Chester 25 from both flanks. Kendal were able to continue their assault during the second half and in the 47th minute they were awarded a penalty corner. The low flick from the top of the D rebounded from the keepers pads and Kendal forward Celia Powell was quick to react, getting hold of the ball and pushing it neatly past the Chester keeper to level the game.
Despite both teams best efforts, Kendal were unable to add a second and the tight defence of Nicola Hartley, Emma Woodburn, Laura Morris, Rebecca Wilson and goalkeeper and player of the match Ruth Sealey kept Chester at bay. Kendal 1 Chester 1
