Both teams met at the lakes school pitch with an 11am push back. The first half of the match was rather even with both teams making promising runs, particularly from strikers Alex Richardson and Libby Thwaites. Unfortunately they were unable to convert those efforts into a goal. Kirkby Stephen took the lead after Kendal conceded a goal from a penalty corner in the 14th minute. The Kendal side continued pushing, creating runs and keeping possession. All of which paid off when Vicky Whalley-Jones finished a lovely cross from Alex Richardson into the backboard. Just before the half time whistle, Kirkby Stephen managed to scrape another goal after the interception of a switch at the top of the D leaving the score 2-1 at half time.
After an informative team talk at half time, Kendal were ready and focused on the task in hand. Again both teams had ample runs but both stayed strong defensively with Alisa wright clearing strongly and setting up strong plays. Missed tackles in the D made for a cracking opportunity for Emma Hill who found the back of the net whilst diving- evening up the score. This was unfortunately short lived as Kirkby Stephen fought back with force, resulting in Kendal conceding a further 2 goals late on.
The match ended in a 4-2 loss, which was not a true reflection of the game.
