The ladies 1’s travelled all the way to Stokesley for their North Div 1 game this week. With a changed team from last week and super stand-in GK Frankie in net it was always going to be an interesting game. Much of the first half was played in the Kendal end but with some dynamic attacks from the front 3 of Tyson, Reid and Jones.
Stokesley scored first from a penalty corner.
Kendal’s equaliser came from a quick free hit from Delbridge finding Emma Reid in a bit of space to send it through to Jones who slotted it past the keeper.
Stokesley then scored again from penalty corner, very similar to the first.
The second half was end to end hockey with some lovely spells from Kendal, working the ball up the pitch really effectively.
Unfortunately Stokesley found their scoring shoes and put 2 goals away in close succession. Despite the score line Kendal continued to push forward, with Kaney and Emma creating a multitude of excellent chances in front of goal. A lovely little run and ball into the D from Bertie set Jones up for Kendal’s second goal of the game.
Despite some impressive, body on the line, defending from the Kendal back 4 Stokesley bagged themselves a 5th.
Further attacks for Kendal came from some excellent turnovers of possession, with Jo Elleray leading the pressure every time.
Stokesley‘s final goal came from another penalty corner. Frankie made an excellent initial save but unfortunately it was quickly followed up by the Stokesley forward who put it in. The final score line of 6-2 was a bit of a shame but spirits are still high in the Kendal camp.
