Join The Club

Kendal Hockey Club has existed in various forms since the late 1800s, located in the heart of Kendal, on the edge of the beautiful Lake District. Our home ground offers views of the surrounding fells, providing a picturesque backdrop to our matches and training sessions.

Kendal HC operates two Men’s teams and one or two Women’s teams, depending on player numbers in any given season. The club also has a thriving Junior section, with a wide range of age groups playing competitive and friendly matches throughout the season.

Our teams compete in the North West Hockey League, while our junior and development teams provide opportunities for players of all abilities to develop their skills and enjoy the game.

With over 100 members across both adult and junior sections, Kendal Hockey Club combines competitive hockey with a strong social scene and a welcoming atmosphere. The club thrives thanks to the dedication of its volunteers and supporters.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced player, we warmly welcome new members to Kendal Hockey Club.

England Hockey Game Management System (GMS)

What is it?

The Game Management System (GMS) is England Hockey's online platform for managing leagues and matches across the country. To enable the use of online match sheets, all league players—both adult and junior—must be registered and linked to Kendal Hockey Club before they are eligible to play in matches.

Once your profile is created, it will stay with you throughout your playing journey, keeping a record of your appearances and goals. You only need to register once—there’s no need to re-register every season.

Information for Under-18s

Players under the age of 18 cannot register themselves directly on the GMS. Instead, a parent or guardian must create a linked account for their child. This ensures compliance with Safeguarding Regulations. Once a junior player turns 18, they will be able to take direct control of their account.

Attached is a guide explaining the steps for parents to register themselves and their child as a player. Every junior player must be registered on the GMS to take part in any England Hockey match, so it’s essential that parents complete this process.

Steps to Register on the GMS

Players Aged 18 and Over:

  1. Visit the GMS registration page and click ‘Register.’
  2. Select ‘Player’ and enter your personal details.
  3. Choose Kendal Hockey Club as your club.
  4. You’ll receive a verification code via email or SMS—use this to proceed.
  5. Complete your profile.
  6. Wait for approval from Kendal Hockey Club.

Players Under 18 (to be completed by a Parent/Guardian):

  1. Go to the GMS registration page and click ‘Register.’
  2. Select ‘Parent’ and enter your personal details.
  3. Choose Kendal Hockey Club as your club.
  4. You’ll receive a verification code via email or SMS—use this to proceed.
  5. Add your child’s details to your profile.
  6. Wait for approval from Kendal Hockey Club.

Key Reminders

  • Only apply once - please be patient while waiting for your verification code and club approval, as this can take up to 24–48 hours.
  • A junior account must be linked to a parent/guardian’s account to meet Safeguarding Regulations.
  • Registration is essential for participation in any England Hockey match.

Matchday Playing Kit

The club's home playing kit consists of a green shirt, white shorts (or skort), and green socks, while our away playing kit includes a white shirt, white shorts (or skort), and white socks. The away kit is used when there’s a clash of colours with opposition teams during away matches.

We warmly welcome new players and understand it might take a little time to get fully kitted out. That’s why the club has a selection of spare shirts available to lend to new members as they settle in.

For our established senior players who represent the club in matches, we encourage the purchase of your own playing kit. Having your own personalised kit not only ensures a consistent and professional look on the pitch but also helps players feel part of the club community.

The club organises approximately two bulk kit orders per season with our supplier, Akuma. If you’re ready to order kit or training wear, the process is easy! Simply reach out to your team captain or coach to be allocated a shirt number and included in the club’s next bulk order.

We’re delighted to have you as part of the Kendal Hockey Club family and can’t wait to see you out on the pitch in your club colours!
